What this site collects, and what it doesn't
The short version: an enquiry only exists because you typed one, analytics is counted rather than personal, and nothing here is sold or handed to an advertiser.
In short
Two things, and nothing else
This site collects two things. What you type into the contact form, so we can reply to it. And anonymous analytics about which pages get read, so we can tell which ones are working.
There is no advertising network on this site, no retargeting pixel, and no data broker. Nothing is ever sold. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not email you unless you wrote to us first.
Who we are
The business behind this site
Latchford Software is a software studio based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, operating as a service-area business with no public storefront. We are responsible for the personal information described on this page.
Questions, corrections, or a request to delete something: hello@latchfordsoftware.com. A person reads it.
The contact form
What you send us, and where it goes
The contact form asks for your name and email address, and optionally your business name, phone number, how you found us, and whatever you want to tell us about the project. Everything in it is there because you chose to put it there.
Submissions are delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, a form-relay service. It passes the message through and does not use it for anything of its own. If the form cannot reach that service, it falls back to opening your own email app with the message already written — in which case nothing leaves your computer until you press send.
We keep enquiries in our email for as long as the conversation or the working relationship is live, and clear out dead threads periodically. Ask us to delete yours and we will.
Analytics
How we count visits
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages get read and which ones nobody finds. It sets cookies in your browser and reports to Google LLC, with your IP address anonymised before it is stored — and it does not load at all until you say yes on the banner that asks.
What we look at is aggregate: pages, sources, rough regions, whether someone who lands on a service page ever reaches the contact page. When a form submission is accepted we also record that one happened, and nothing about what was in it — the event carries no name, no address, and no message. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not link analytics data to anything you send through the form.
Decline the banner and no analytics runs; your answer is remembered in your own browser, not sent anywhere, and nothing on this site is gated behind accepting. To change your mind later, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will ask again.
Hosting
Server logs
This site is a set of static files served by a hosting provider. Like every web server, theirs keeps short-lived request logs — IP address, time, page requested, browser string — for security and for keeping the site up. That is the ordinary operation of a web server rather than something we collect, and we do not mine it.
Your rights
What you can ask us to do
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Email hello@latchfordsoftware.com and we will answer within thirty days — usually the same week.
If you are in the UK or the EU, the same requests apply under the GDPR, along with the right to object to processing and to complain to your local supervisory authority. We handle either the same way: you ask, we do it.
We do not sell personal information.
Changes
When this page changes
If we add a service that handles your data, or remove one, this page is updated in the same change that ships it rather than afterwards. The effective date above is the last time that happened.
This is a plain description of how the site works, written to be read rather than to be defensible. It is not legal advice and it does not create a contract.
